Hydrobudowa Śląsk was established in 1951. The company operates in the area of hydro-technical, industrial and engineering building. It also specializes in services and repair works of machinery and equipment for water treatment installations, water catchments, dams, water fault reinforcements as well as building equipment and machinery.
Hydrobudowa Śląsk S.A. is an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company and has won several industry awards. It has over 1000 employees. It is registered on the Polish Giełda Papierów Wartościowych.

Implementation
Due to the multidivision structure of the company and a number of large ongoing projects conducted outside of the main office, the financial documents circulation time was as long as a few weeks. Each month the bookkeeping services faced the difficult task of overdue work completion. Planning by project managers was extremely difficult, and project completion tracking was even harder. The relevant information was scattered, often manually acquired and converted in spreadsheets. Reliable data was available after weeks of delay.
When Hydrobudowa joined a business group associated with the PBG S.A., it was required to file consolidated financial reports, further shortening the maximum document circulation time allowed in Hydrobudowa Śląsk S.A. This was impossible with traditional (paper based) invoice circulation. At this piont a commitment to the electronic document circulation system was made.
Results
It took only two weeks from the financial commitment to the moment when the V-Desk system was available in production. Intense employee training took place in the following period after implementation. After 20 days from the release the system into production, 110 employees of Hydrobudowa Śląsk S.A. were using the V-Desk application. By the 30th of June 2006 (end of the first post-implementation month) the Accounting and Finance Department acquired full information on all incoming documents. A number of them were already acknowledged and processed by the department at this time. Project managers obtained immediate access to a reliable current data, enabling them to meet budget targets.
The first positive efects where noticeble after only a few weeks of using the V-Desk system. The invoice circulation process was optimized and its duration reduced from 3 to 6 weeks to a mere 2 – 3 days. This had significant impact on the company management and let to better customer relations.
